Below about a metre a ball hangs off a hook. Above it, the conversation changes completely, and it changes before the ball arrives.

The core has to be structural

A moulded or polystyrene core is fine at small diameters and dangerous at large ones. At size the core carries real load and has to be engineered for it, or the ball deforms, drops facets, and eventually fails at the attachment.

Ours are built as load-bearing structures for exactly this reason.

Rated point plus secondary safety

One rated primary point takes the load. A secondary safety — an independent steel to an independent anchor — catches it if the primary fails. This is not optional over a crowd and no competent rigger will hang it without one.

The paperwork is the actual blocker

Venues ask for weight and safe working load in writing before anything goes up. A ball that turns up without them sits in its crate until somebody chases the supplier, which is usually the day of the event.

We supply both with every ball over a metre, unasked.

Be honest about the ceiling

A giant ball needs height to breathe. Hung too low it stops reading as a sphere and becomes a bright obstruction people walk around.

Send us the ceiling height and the sightlines and we will tell you if the diameter you want is the diameter you need, including when the answer is the cheaper one.
