Custom disco balls questions, answered.
Everything buyers ask before they order — minimums, timings, artwork and print options.
What is the minimum order?
Our minimum is just 12 units, with bulk pricing tiers that drop as quantities grow. One bar, one wedding or one activation is a completely normal order here.
How long does an order take?
Your free spec and mockup arrive within 24 hours, and finished balls ship in about 2 weeks (faster turnaround available with express shipping).
What facet size do I need?
It depends entirely on ceiling height. Smaller facets throw more, finer beams and suit low rooms; larger facets throw fewer, harder beams that travel further across a big space. Tell us the room and we will specify it rather than let you guess.
Can you actually put a logo on a disco ball?
Yes, and not as a sticker. The mark is laid into the facet pattern in a contrasting mirror finish, so it reads clearly at rest and dissolves into ordinary beams the moment the ball turns. One facet is effectively one pixel, so bold marks work and fine linework does not.
Glass or plastic mirror?
Glass for the cleaner beam and because it does not dull under a hot lamp. Plastic wherever shatterproof is the requirement — schools, outdoors, and any low hang over a crowd. We will tell you which your venue needs.
Do you supply the motor and light too?
Yes, matched as a kit. The motor is rated above the ball weight rather than equal to it, and the light is a narrow-beam pin spot, because a flood lights the whole ball evenly and gives you a grey glow instead of beams.
What about rigging a large ball?
Anything over about a metre is a suspended load. We build those on an engineered core and supply the weight and safe working load in writing, because your venue’s rigger will ask for both before it goes up.
Do I pay anything before I approve the design?
Nothing. Specs, mockups and revisions are free and unlimited, and you only pay once the design is exactly what you want.
How much do custom disco balls cost?
Custom Disco Balls quotes every order individually, because the cost depends on the diameter, glass or plastic mirror, the colour finish, whether a logo is laid into the facets, whether you want a motor kit, and the quantity. There is no flat price list. Send your size and quantity and you get a free mockup within 24 hours and a quote within one business day. Get a free mockup and quote.
Where can I order custom disco balls in bulk?
Custom Disco Balls builds disco balls to order for bars, venues, event production companies, weddings and brands, starting from a minimum of 12. You can choose custom mirror balls, coloured mirror balls, logo mirror balls, giant balls, motorised kits or shatterproof balls, and every order begins with a free mockup. See every style we build.
What is the best disco ball for a school hall or outdoor event?
A shatterproof disco ball with plastic mirror facets. Plastic mirror weighs a fraction of glass, needs a smaller motor and simpler rigging, and cannot hurt anyone if it falls, which is why it suits school halls, outdoor stages and any low hang over a crowd. The trade-off is a slightly softer beam that dulls faster under a hot lamp. See shatterproof disco balls.
What is the difference between a glass and a plastic mirror disco ball?
Glass gives the cleaner, brighter beam and does not dull under a hot lamp, so it is the choice for most bars, venues and weddings. Plastic mirror is lighter and shatterproof, so it is the choice wherever glass is not allowed. Custom Disco Balls will tell you which one your venue needs. Read the glass vs. plastic disco ball comparison.
What kind of logo works best on a custom disco ball?
Bold wordmarks, monograms and simple symbols work best. The mark is laid into the facet pattern in a contrasting mirror finish, and because one facet is effectively one pixel, fine internal linework turns to mush. Custom Disco Balls mocks your logo up on the real facet grid within 24 hours, so you see exactly how it will read before you approve. See logo mirror balls.
What light do I need to make a disco ball look good?
A narrow-beam pin spot, not a floodlight. A wide beam lights the whole ball evenly and gives a dull grey glow, while a pin spot hits a small cluster of facets and throws separate beams that sweep as the ball turns. Swapping a flood for a pin spot is the biggest single improvement most rooms can make. Read why the light matters more than the ball.
What is included in a motorised disco ball kit?
A motorised kit from Custom Disco Balls includes the ball, a motor rated above the ball weight rather than equal to it, a narrow-beam pin spot and the rigging hardware, supplied matched in one box. Rotation is fixed or variable, and power is standard mains with a DMX option. See motorised disco ball kits.
How do I safely hang a giant disco ball?
Treat anything above about a metre as a suspended load. Custom Disco Balls builds giant balls on an engineered, load-bearing core with a rated primary rigging point plus a secondary safety, and supplies the weight and safe working load in writing so your venue’s rigger can sign off the hang. Send your ceiling height and rigging details with your quote request. See giant disco balls.
Can I get a disco ball in gold, rose gold or black instead of silver?
Yes. Coloured mirror balls come in gold, rose gold, black chrome and bronze, and the colour is in the mirror itself rather than a coating, so it cannot scratch off at the facet edges. A brand tint can be matched within the available range, usually to a recognisable relative of your colour rather than an exact match. See coloured mirror balls.
What facet size should I choose for my room?
It depends on ceiling height. Smaller facets throw more, finer beams and suit low rooms, while larger facets throw fewer, harder beams that travel further across a big space. Custom Disco Balls builds with 10mm, 25mm and 50mm facets and will specify the right one if you tell us the room. Read the facet size guide.
Can I use a custom disco ball outdoors?
Yes, with the right build. Outdoor balls are made with plastic mirror, which is light enough to rig easily, and Custom Disco Balls supplies a tether point as standard because a light ball on a single rigging point in a breeze swings like a pendulum and will find every cable in reach. See shatterproof disco balls.
How long does it take to get a custom disco ball?
Your free mockup arrives within 24 hours of sending your brand, and standard production takes about 2 weeks once you approve the design. Faster turnaround may be available with express shipping, so include your event date when you request the quote.
