Everything you need to know about custom disco balls

Custom disco balls are mirror balls built to your specification — your tile colors, your finish, your branding, your size. They throw the same room-filling sparkle as a classic silver ball, but every detail can be tailored: color-tinted mirror tiles that match a wedding palette, a printed panel or branded top cap that puts a logo in the middle of the shine, and hardware sized for anything from a tabletop centerpiece to a permanent ceiling install. For event planners, venues, nightclubs, and brands, that turns a familiar prop into a centerpiece people photograph and share.

Because every ball is made to order, the right spec depends on the room, the mounting point, and the job the ball has to do. This guide walks through the sizes we build (4" favors up to 20"+ statement pieces), the difference between glass mirror tiles and acrylic facets, core and hardware construction, customization options, color choices, and how quantity-based pricing works. Why go custom

A custom mirror ball works twice — centerpiece and brand moment

A stock silver ball looks like every other rental. A custom disco ball in your colors — with your logo on the cap, your palette in the tiles, your finish catching the light — becomes the shot everyone posts. Whether it’s hanging over a first dance, spinning above a dance floor, or anchoring a retail window, a custom ball makes the space unmistakably yours.

Instantly photogenic

Mirror balls pull every light in the room and scatter it across walls and ceilings. Add your colors and branding and every photo taken under it carries your look.

Built for real events

Reinforced cores, rated hanging rings, and hand-set mirror tiles that survive load-in, transit cases, and season after season of installs.

Made to spec

Pick the diameter, tile material, tint, cap branding, and hardware. We build one showpiece install or thousands of mini favors to the same spec.

How it works

From your brand brief to your ballroom in four steps

1

Send your brief

Share your colors, logo (vector preferred), the sizes you want, and how the balls will hang or display.

2

We design & proof

We map your palette to tile colors and finishes, lay out any printed panels or cap branding, and send a proof.

3

You approve

Confirm the proof, sizes and quantities. Nothing goes into production until you sign off.

4

We build & ship

Tiles are set, hardware is fitted and checked, and your order ships protected to your venue or warehouse.

Sizes & dimensions

Disco ball sizes: which diameter do you need?

Diameter drives how far the sparkle throws and how the ball reads in the room. Mini 4" balls work as favors and place settings, 8" balls accent bars and vignettes, 12" is the classic party size, 16" commands a stage or dance floor, and 20"+ statement balls anchor large venues and permanent installs.

Typical diameter by use case

Favors ~4" Bar accent ~8" Party ~12" Stage ~16" Statement 20"+ Approximate diameter in inches, by typical use case

Bigger diameters throw sparkle farther and read from across the room; minis are sized for hands and tabletops.

Approximate hung weight (glass-tile builds)

Approximate ranges for glass-tile construction; acrylic-facet builds run lighter. Always match your rigging point and motor to the finished weight on your quote.

Materials & construction

Glass shine, engineered to hang safely

The sparkle comes from the tiles. Real glass mirror tiles give the sharpest, brightest light scatter — the classic ballroom look — and are our standard for showpiece and install balls. Acrylic facets deliver a similar effect at a fraction of the weight, making them the smart choice for minis, favors, ceiling clusters, and any venue with strict rigging limits. Tiles are hand-set in even courses so the reflection pattern stays clean all the way around.

Underneath, cores are rigid foam or molded plastic, chosen by size: lightweight foam for minis and accents, reinforced cores for stage and statement balls. Every hanging ball is fitted with a secured top ring tied into the core — not just glued to the shell — and we spec motor mounts and swivels so the ball spins smoothly without unthreading the rig. Tell us where and how it will hang, and we’ll build the hardware to match.

  • Glass mirror tiles — maximum sparkle for showpiece and install balls
  • Acrylic facets — lighter weight for minis, clusters and rig-limited venues
  • Rigid foam & molded cores — sized to the ball, reinforced on large builds
  • Secured hanging rings — anchored into the core, not just the shell
  • Motor mounts & swivels — smooth rotation without unthreading
  • Protective packing — foam-fitted cartons that survive freight and load-in
Customization options

Make the ball unmistakably yours

Custom tile colors

Swap classic silver for gold, rose gold, black, blue, pink or a multi-color pattern — solid, two-tone, ombre, or mapped to your palette.

Printed panels

Add a printed logo panel or wordmark band into the tile layout so your brand reads even when the ball is still.

Branded top caps

Put your logo or monogram on the cap and collar — the detail guests see in every close-up and unboxing.

Color-tinted mirrors

Tinted mirror tiles keep full reflectivity while casting your color across the room — a subtler effect than opaque tiles.

Motor kits & hardware

Add rotation motors, swivels, safety cables and hanging chain sized to your ball so it arrives ready to rig and spin.

Any size, any quantity

One 20"+ statement install or thousands of 4" favors — the same colors and branding, scaled to your order.

Color guide

Disco ball colors and the moods they set

Bulk pricing

How custom disco ball pricing works

Every order is quoted to spec, and the per-ball price drops as quantity climbs. Your quote depends on four things: diameter, tile material (glass vs. acrylic), customization level (tints, printed panels, branded caps, motor kits), and total quantity. Larger runs of a single spec bring the unit cost down the most; one-off statement builds are quoted individually.

FAQ

Custom disco ball questions, answered

How much does a disco ball weigh, and what can I hang it from?
Glass-tile balls run roughly from under 1 lb for a 4" mini to ~18–25 lb for 20"+ statement sizes; acrylic builds are lighter. Hang from a load-rated point with an appropriate safety margin — never a drop-ceiling grid or a bare drywall anchor for anything larger than a mini. Your quote lists the finished weight so you can confirm the rig point before install.
Do I need a motor to spin the ball?
Rotation is what makes the light travel around the room, so most hanging balls pair with a motor. We supply motor kits matched to the ball’s weight, plus swivels and safety cables. Minis and display balls look great static — no motor needed.
Can custom disco balls be used outdoors?
They’re built for indoor and covered use. Short outdoor stints under a tent or canopy are fine in dry weather, but rain, sustained humidity and direct sun can degrade tile adhesive over time. For a permanent outdoor concept, tell us in your quote and we’ll spec a weather-resistant build.
What’s the typical lead time?
Lead time depends on size, customization level and quantity — a standard-color run moves faster than tinted tiles or printed panels, and large favor orders take longer than a single showpiece. Share your event date in the quote request and we’ll confirm a production and delivery timeline before you commit.
What’s the difference between glass and acrylic tiles?
Glass mirror tiles give the sharpest, brightest sparkle — the classic look — and are standard on showpiece and install balls. Acrylic facets are lighter and more impact-tolerant, ideal for minis, ceiling clusters and venues with rigging limits. Many orders mix both: glass for the hero ball, acrylic for the surround.
How does branding work on a mirror ball?
Three main ways: a branded top cap with your logo or monogram, a printed panel or wordmark band set into the tile layout, and color-tinted tiles matched to your palette. Send vector artwork and brand colors and we’ll proof placement before production.
Is there a minimum order?
No hard minimum — we build single statement pieces as readily as thousand-unit favor runs. Per-ball pricing improves with quantity, so if you’re ordering favors or activation kits, quote the full run at once for the best rate.
Can you match my exact brand or wedding colors?
Yes. Send your brand codes or palette and we’ll proof tinted-tile options — solid, two-tone, ombre or patterned — so you can approve the exact look before we set a single tile.
